Gene Molway

Our History

NOTE: Founding Pastor Gene Molway passed away suddenly on May 5, 2017. While we were heartbroken at this tragedy, we find comfort in Gene's heavenly homecoming and look forward with great hope for the future of Salt Church.

The leaders of Salt are deeply committed to the calling the Lord has placed on this gathering of people. With great celebration, we have called Pastor Mike Kenyon to continue and expand on the work that Gene started.

In 2012 Gene was commissioned by Mariners Church to start a church in Orange County. Gene was a sought-after international speaker, highly familiar with the issues and culture unique to Southern California.  He had the ability and passion for communicating life-changing truth with relevance.  In particular, Gene was known for his unique speaking style that combines quick wit, keen insight, and fundamental biblical wisdom.

In over 40 years of ministry, Gene traveled extensively to the former Soviet Union to provide training, evangelism and encouragement to the local church.  He personally led hundreds of people and teams to minister in Russia, Ukraine, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Haiti. He helped distribute aid to tsunami victims as well as provided leadership training to the local churches.  He organized teams of volunteers to travel to New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina and he returned to Ukraine, providing training to Pastors and Elders of the New Life Church.

Gene was excited about pastoring SALT Church and developing the leadership given to his care. His focus on developing others was a great asset to the people committed to this new exciting adventure of faith.
